Girls can hunt elk too!
« on: January 18, 2008, 09:00:28 PM »
Didn't want to hijack bigshooter's thread but all the talk of Utah elk and I remembered I have some pics that I was gonna share. My two niece's put in for the N/R limited entry youth hunt last year. Not exactly sure what unit but I think it was the south slope of the Diamond mountains. Anyhow the both drew out first time putting in. My brother lives in Roosevelt and knows the area pretty well. First picture is Makayla's bull a nice 330 class elk. The second is Tiani's bull and the last two pics of them all together show my sister-in-law with her 365 class bull that was taken out of the Book Cliffs roadless hunt. Needless to say it was a good year for the girls. I stayed home and shot a little dinky 4x2.

Check out the daggers on this guy.

All three together.

Exact same here. I'm getting the girls out, but mom wouldn't go hunting if I promised a new lexus.   :chuckle:

My daughter will be there soon, she has already tagged a 170+ deer and has her own bow, ready to go elk hunting. Love the pics, tell the gals congrats.

My wife bugs me all season about going hunting.  She wants it as bad as if not worse than me.  My daughter used to be right there everytime and has been with me on successful hunts, but now she has gotten too old and busy wuth her friends to go......  My 6 year old son is now chomping at the bit to go too, so there is still hope in the kid department!

Tell those ladies congratulations on some nice bulls!

Wow, what a season!!!

My job takes me to Roosevelt a couple times a year. The area is booming, brand new rigs everywhere. The oil and natual gas money is flowing freely. Hard to get a room around there too.

My last Boss was a woman that hunted Elk from a horse camp with her husband. It was real funny when she drove their F350 to work. She's about 5'5 the bottom of the door was about 4"

Nothing like a Boss that supports your outdoor needs.

WOW!!!

That's hard to beat for anyone.
My daughter that lives here in WA and I hunt turkeys.  We've harvested both Mirriams and Rios from the East side.  We're still looking for Eastern Wild turkeys on the wet side.  My other daughter living in Juneau, Alaska, and I went on a fly-in sheep hunt together a couple years ago. We found only ewes and lambs, but saw caribou and had a great time.  My daughters are great to camp with, but some people - men, too - don't enjoy camping and probably never will.

Ah heck, here is a picture of her and her elk.  I had a small disposable camera in my pocket and snapped a bunch.  I then brought m other camera when we came back for him.  We just go the disposable developed, two years later.  Here is one from it.
