New camcorder ?
« on: January 03, 2010, 01:53:19 PM »
So I got a Canon Vixia HF S100 for xmas and I was thinking of taking it hunting with me next year so I can video some of my archery elk stuff. Im thinking it might work good as its pretty small and will store im my pack really easy...

My question is do these things work good for that kind of stuff or am I wasting my time   :dunno:

I took my hv20 (same cam albeit records on mini dv) on my hc hunt at chelan....the cam did killer except the mic leaves a bit to be desired. a spare batt is a good plan if you are gonna be gone for more then a drum hour or so

Is it easy to get the video off the camera and onto a computer?  I'm really stupid with that kind of stuff.

How close does the bull need to be in order to hear its bugle on the video?

mine is done via firewire or HDMI, yous will be as easy as slipping the card into the reader. I like to be able to archive my tapes, you can put more cam in less space.....so its a trade. as for how close...the mic is very sensative.....it just lacks tonal accuracy. my asked me who was speaking on a tape I shot....twas me!

i have tried to pack one thinking i would use it but it more or less gets in the way where we hunt so few of shot opportunity's that we get to focused on the hunt to break out the camera
