Whitefishing the Yak
« on: January 08, 2010, 06:38:47 PM »
Has anyone gone?  Has anyone been catching any.  Cause...i've gone 6 times so far and haven't even had a bite when last year this time i was catching near limits.  Not hearing any good reports.

Upper river by cle elum.  And do you know about the regulations this year, i hear rumors of 1 hook only, regs say 1 hook, but i've heard elsewhere that that only applies from roza to the columbia and from roza to keeches dam it is 2 hooks.

If I were you I'd be fishing down in the Canyon. I've fished for trout down there several times in the last month and have caught lots of whities. I know that there are lots upriver as well though, just not as familiar with the water in that area.
I hunt, therefore I am.... I fish, therefore I lie.

We were out today and caught 9 in about 3 hours.  They have been slow the last week or so. 2 weeks ago we were almost limiting out every day. PM me and I can let you know a few good spots we always go to.

We have been using Gold and Yellow flys to catch most of them the last few days. Last week it was a chartreuse green.  We use a bobber and a few split shot to keep the fly down clost to the bottom. caught most of them around 5-6 feet deep.
