End of the Season Approaching!!!
« on: January 26, 2010, 08:21:19 PM »
Well we will be getting down to the final days of the season and I'm not ready.  :( But sure have made some good memories and friends. Learned a lot over the season and looking forward to doing some work for next year. Got 2 boats that I will be turning into duck boats. Making modification to them and going to get them painted up for next year.  Looking to build a few blinds and practice shooting for next year. My wife has decided if I spend the time to get her set up she will go out with our son and me waterfowling. So to next Water Fowling, May it be better than the last for begginers thru the experts. Thanks for the pictures and stories over the season.
Hunting and Fishing is not what I do. But who I am...

I'm ready for a little break.  I think I burned myself out this season.  I am going to take a few weeks off, then start thinking about it again.  Missouri snow goose hunt.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!

We are like you h2o, tired!  As ragged as we are feeling now though, in about 2 weeks we are going to really start to miss the season.  We also have a snow goose hunt to look forward to, South Dakota in late march.  Good luck on your trip and keep us informed as to how it goes!

I am ready for a little fishing, but will miss the season in a few weeks as well.  I really enjoyed how the beginning of snowgoose was with numerous decoying geese. I have more than enough in the freezer to go to Silvana with. I learned places to go with my new Lowe Roughneck 1860. I have a 60hp Merc Flyway coming soon. I have to figure a boat blind in the off season. Seeing H20's pictures made me get out in the boat and I found ducks all over the place with no crowding. I think it will mostly be from the boat in the years to come. In the end I enjoyed a first day of hunting Brant out of Padilla Bay with my son. In the boat we bagged 3 Brant (adult males) and my son made a nice shot on a long tale that had a 14 inch tail. I really enjoyed the elbow room on the water with the boat. I want to thank all of you who had input and shared places with private messages. The info I got was spot on and the truth. To H20, thanks a ton for sharing all you did with scout reports, it really helped me with having successful hunts on a day off. We all work too much and scouting is a big part of hunting. Any scout reports can really make your days off worth while. If anyone over the next year wants to join up with me on private messages, I will always give the truth to help. I figure my day of hunting can be a scout report for someone who is hunting the next day.

I spent a lot of time in new places this year, made some new friends and have set some new priorities.  I really love this season, I live for duck hunting. this was the first year I actually took time off work JUST to go duck hunting, time well spent!  Usually I get more or upgrade decoys every year. I don't need to do that anymore. I have too many... My investment for next season is a new boat or two. I want a Marshrat (or similar) layout boat and something a little bigger for pressing big water and the salt.

I'm ready for a little break.  I think I burned myself out this season.  I am going to take a few weeks off, then start thinking about it again.  Missouri snow goose hunt.

Where in MO are you going? I'm kinda bummed, I have to go to Texas on business the last weekend of Feb so I'll miss the Missouri hunt this year. I'm thinking there is a slim possibility of North Dakota or Canada, but chances are conservation season is out for me this year.
