Varmint Hunting
« on: April 19, 2010, 04:45:20 PM »
Greetings all. I am new to this board and new to varmint hunting. I would like to meet up with others in the Spokane area so my son and I can hunt some small game. We have a Ruger 10-22, Bushmaster AR-16 and have put many holes in paper at the Spokane Rifle Club. We'd love to know where to hunt gophers, squirrels, coyote and any other small game in the area.

Welcome aboard.

Pick up a Washington Atlas and Gazetteer it has a list of state owned land open to public hunting.  That will give you a good place to start scouting for your quarry.  Don't forget your parking permit from the state and check what hunting license you might need.

Hello,
I al new to this board but looking for some info on places
near Yakima to hunt coyote. Please if anyone could give me
a specific location to start other than the atlas that would
be great. Thanks and food hunting.
Ps I have been hunting West of Chehalis and saw not 1
but 2 early in the morning just after sunrise and about
30 mins of calling and electric caller and few short distress
calls with my hand caller.

Well your right about that. Doesn't have to be exact but
a road or something more than East is really what I mean.
I don't want anyone to give out their best spots or anything.
Looking for coyotes over here on the west has been very hard.
Lots of folks say go East cool I  headed out Hwy 12 towards
Yakima Saturday so any help from there would great.
Thanks for the response maybe this will help:)
Good Hunting

More than happy to share information, I just wouldn't expect someone to ask for it on there first couple posts. Nothing against you. Also if I were you I would start your own topic, rather than  :jacked: someone elses.

asking for specific locations usually doesnt work too well bro.  The site is full of good info, and even better people.  Get to know everyone, try taggin along with the guys (and gals) on a few trips, build some relationships, and you will see just how valuable the site is.

I started hunting in this state about 20 yrs ago, didn't know a single person and didn't even know what a computer was.  I picked up a Atlas and started visiting all the public huning areas and walked alot looking for tracks an scat and good looking set ups.  I still hunt some of those places and call in dogs.

There are very few places in WA that doesn't have coyotes.  By telling you about the Atlas I've told you about a lot of  places in WA that you can hunt coyotes with out having to find the owner and get permission.  Now you have to find the best set up and how to call that location.
