great trade, as much as i like tarus the judge was a flop i am sure that ruger will shoot better than it would

Nice gun Gut. My old man got that Judge, didn't seem to bad, but then again, I only shot it a few times.

Not sure I'd say it's a flop. It's about the hottest seller out there right now. I think it's a great SD gun. I bought it for grouse though and even at the closest range the pattern was totally blown. Not at all an effective grouse gun. So off it went. Fun gun for sure but not exactly a "hunting" pistol. Perfect night stand or truck gun.

thanks gutpile, that is what I thought,  it would work for both SD and a carry gun on the trail, sounds like "trail carry " is not all I thought it would be.

Not sure about that, I think I'll stick to a rifle for that. Would like to take a deer with it though. Hope I get drawn for the "B" Palouse tag this year and I will.

Didn't see your post before. Honestly I did like it but I didn't need another plinker. I've got a bunch of pistols that do fine for a trail gun I just wanted this for Grouse while I'm dinking around hunting bear/deer. It doesn't work on grouse like I said. It carries well and is really a lot of fun to shoot. Good conversation piece too. It just didn't fit my needs.

It still floors me how bad of a pattern this thing throws even at the closest range with bird shot. I would not have believed it until I saw it myself but take my word for it. 

I shot one grouse with it at about 12 feet. Had to shoot it twice and still didn't kill it. Had to ring it's neck.
