Back in the mid 80's I had a 7 1/2 exactly like that.  Replaced the factory grips with some pachmayr's and it was hands down the sweetest best shooting .44 I have ever owned.  Mine loved 240gr Hornady's with 22.8gr of 2400 (hot load but shot awesome).  I currently have a S&W 629 that is nice but I don't think it's half the gun my Ruger was.  IMO the Redhawk was/is a great looking revolver but when Ruger came out with the Super Redhawk umm well not so hot looking.  I'm sure you have yourself a shooter.  Congrats

Damn!  You got the better end of the deal Gut!

My Redhawk loves the Sierra 300gn SP pushed by 19gns of AA#9 or 21gns of Win296.  Or, the Sierra 250gn FPJ pushed by 19.4gns of AA#9 or 23.4gns of Win296. Work your loads up though. These particular loads seem to provide more velocity than what the books would indicate from my gun. Bear MEDICINE!

I agree, I think that most people, me included, want the Judge to be more than it's supposed to be. It's not supposed to be super accurate but it's definately good enough for close quarters self defense and it's not designed to be used for bird hunting. Again if the shotshell is chosen it's for close quarters self defense. In that role I really think it's not only a good choice but a great choice. It was a learning experience for me, it just didn't suit my needs. If I wanted to sink $400-$500.00 for a pure self defense night stand gun I just can't think of a better way to go than 5 .410 00buckshot loads. Won't kill the neighbors kid in their bed because of over penetration but it'll do a number on a tweeker standing in your hallway. Or for a truck gun. Sumbitch sticks a knife through your window and says he wants your rig it'd be nice to stick a shotgun in his mug.  :o

Hmmmm? If that 629 needs a new home and nostalgia gets the better of you, see the pic below. You may be able to talk me into parting with the SS one for the 629. Just a thought. :dunno:

I thought I did ok.  :chuckle:

All in all I feel happy with the trade. But now I have two.  :chuckle:  :chuckle:  :chuckle:

Wow you're pretty close to me, 29th and university. I have been trying to keep things on the home from completely falling apart. Doin good now, stayin out of the hooch helps. Hell yeah shootin is good!!! My old boss is a .44 guy too, I think he has around 2000 or more reloads for him. Great recipe too. I need to get some rounds worked up for the norma and get out with it, and I might do some light loads in the .243 for the youngest daughter. She is hoping to take hunters ed this year, so I need to get her out shooting. She is 10.

Hooch is baaaaaaadddd!! I'm a whiskey man. In fact I poored a stiffy Blanton's on ice tonight.   Luckily the fear of hangovers helps me moderate. I'm not even close to the drinker I once was back in the Army days.

29th and University! Your a hop skip and a jump from me. I've got quite a few clients in your neughborhood, probably driven by your house 100 times.

I got my youngest through hunters ed a couple of years ago. She shot a doe in 08 and a little 3-4 in 09. Sure is fun hunting with the younguns. Get her signed up now. Bighorn show at the latest. They are almost all full by then. She'll do fine, girls always do. My Eldest missed 2 questins and the youngest missed 3. Did better than most adults.

We ought to hook up. PM me sometime if you want to pop off a few rounds I need to get out to Fishtrap and dial in the Muzzy and play with the new toy. I won't be working for about 3 more weeks so I'm open most days or any weekend except for superbowl or crappy weather of course.

Good move.  That Judge always struck me as kind of a gimmick.

Yeah it's a .308 Norma, old 1917 Enfield I believe. Been a while since I have let it out to play. Got it 7 or so years ago for about $250, pissed the wife off. She don't think a bowhunter needs any more guns, I know weird huh?  :dunno:  My wife and daughter will hopefully take the course. The ultimate goal is to get is to get one hunting each weapon to make my time in the woods more abundant.

Yeah, if you drove down my street you would have seen my house for sure, I am credited with keeping the land value in check with all the redneck rigs and giant smoker in the driveway. Thay all looked at me funny when I built the smoker, now thay all ask when I will be firing it up again.

If you ever shoot out at Mica you have probably seen my neighbor there, he is always shooting his Sharpes 45-90 out there, he used to do a lot of S.A.S.S. Now it is all silhouette shooting.

Well I don't go out much. Only a 2-3 times a year. Usually in the late winter when I'm done chasin yotes and just before my production begins. Basically that is right now. Anyways gimme a holler, we'll give her a whirl.

They just don't get it do they? My wife doesn't even ask anymore. I beat her into submission. I was cleaning the new .44 tonight, she looked and looked again and just walked off. I know she noticed but chose not to say anything.  :chuckle:  :chuckle: The fact that I'm re doing her bathroom helps a bit I suppose.
