Sitting here watching the Super Bowl before I go to work, I get a call from a buddy asking me how to skin a bobcat! Story and pics when I get home from work.

I just noticed that there is nobody on here with the screen name of 'catskinner'.
It is only a matter of time.

Well, I would've posted pics yesterday, but our computer died. Now, I can't seem to figure out how to transfer pictures from my phone to my daughter's laptop. Maybe it's time to go to bed.
I've got this friend of mine, who just got into predator hunting this winter. He has a 10 year old son, and as many of us know, it's a great way to get your kids out in the woods. He's been really frustrated because he can't seem to call in anything but crows. Well, I guess sometimes persistence pays off! He called in a really nice tom, and whacked it. He brought it by the shop for me to skin and all I had was my phone to take pics with. I guessed it's weight at about 40 pounds. It's one of the biggest cats I've seen in a long time. Now I just have to figure out how to get the picture on here. Maybe I'll leave a note for my daughter to do it before she goes to school.

Well, here is the only cell phone pick I have. Wish I would've had a scale! The boy in the picture is 10, but is fairly tall I believe for his age. His Dad had to hold it up for him until I was ready to take the picture and then jump back out of frame at the last second. The benches in the shop are all 34" and 36" tall. My friend and I picked him up and he felt about 35lbs when you first pick him up, and if you held it up for a few minutes, it felt closer to 45+ lbs. Any thoughts?

First I couldn't post a pic, now I've posted TWO! Can someone tell me how to delete one of them?
Thanks!

Nice cat! I dont know have any ideas on what it weighs. My cat felt really heavy but the scale said it was only 19 lbs. I would have swore it was around 25-30.

Thats about a 22-24 pound cat. Nice cat. They will feel heavier than they are. Should have put it on a bathroom scale to see. Ive seen a 36 pound bobcat on the scale, it was way longer than that one. Thats a nice Kitty!

Congrats to the hunter, as persistance pays off! Nearly impossible to accurately guess the weight from a pic on a bobcat, especially as rigimortis has set in. What he's been eating and how much, also plays a big factor on a bob's weight at the time. It looks to me to be a dandy mature cat, probably in the mid 20's.

I'd say mid to upper 20's, which is a pretty nice cat.
