I normally clean  bird skins 3-4 times in Dawn Deergent. If there is blood on white feathers like a snow goose make sure there clean before tumbling. Wash rinse and repeat until clean.  You can also do a final wash with a fabric softener to shine the feathers before finishing with white gas or regular gas

I'll draw some critiques with this but I'll wash in gasoline (outside the shop) before tumbling I like the job gasoline does in displacing water and acting as a grease cutter. Some will say that gasoline is dangerous and I would agree that in the hands of a moron anything is dangerous. That's why all gasoline work is done outside in an open air environment NEVER inside.
Tumble and your all set.
Good luck.

Holy Crap you didn't say it was a merganser. I would have told you to soak it in Gas then throw a lit match on it  :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:
You do realize that a merganser is not a duck....... It's a rat with wings  :chuckle:

Glad it worked out  if you need anything else just post it up

Good luck
