I too am struggling with trying to understand exactly what point you are trying to make Adams lol.  I used to be able to throw a football 60yds, but that didn't make me Peyton Manning

I'm a glock shooter but yep pretty much any gun.

Bob Munden -- Impossible 200 Yard Shot

I'm currently figuring out which guns I can live without so I can purchase a new .45 as I want to get back into Ipsc or Idpa shooting again.  Right now my personal pistol full size is a G17, while accurate I don't want to shoot minor as I need all the points I can get ;)

That and I need to find a good supply of large pistol primers, what the hell!

If'n you want to compete this season.. You needed to have collected primers last year!   (I have all the large pistol primers in Whatcom and Skagit county!)  No, I really don't.

You could always get the Win/NT 45acp brass that uses small pistol primers. Nobody wants that crap so you could probably corner the market there.  :chuckle:

Well I do have about 3000 Large pistol primers in stock, I just hate to burn em all up without being able to restock at will.  I have around 1500 rounds loaded as well.  Trouble is to be competitive when I used to shoot I would burn through 3 to 5k a year at a minimum.  I could probably squeek by with less today, as I am just planning on competing for fun.  Which reminds me I need to get up to Custer this weekend and check it out, I keep putting it off.  Maybe I will head up there Sunday after I go down to Issaquah to help Galp out on Saturday.

Dang, If I wasn't coaching in a Basketball tourney this weekend I would meet you over there.  Always nice to meet HuntWa members in person (even if they are Glock shooters  :chuckle: J/K).  We have a pretty good set up.

"I'm really trying to figure out what point you're trying to prove."

I'm not trying to prove anything Steve.  Like I said, I used to hate Glocks myself.  Said may times that I would never own one.  I think it's common knowledge that stock, out of the box, you are far, far more likely to have reliability issues with even high end .45's than Glocks.  For me, $500 for the small size (6.29" L and 4.17" H), out of the box reliability, firepower (10+1) and accuracy made the Glock 27 the best concealed carry piece -- FOR ME.  I have shot lots of little subcompacts including 1911's and the Glock 27, in my experience, is the most accurate by far.

The 352 yard video was just a neat video.  It happened to be a Glock.  I didn't see a video at such long range with a different handgun. And I for one couldn't hit that 18" gong at 230yards 3 out of 10 times off hand with a little subcompact pistol.  I was impressed.

Does your Para have the aluminum frame?  The reason I ask is because I used to own a Kimber Tactical II with an aluminum frame, and you guessed it, an aluminum feed ramp.

I had no troubles until about round 400, I was shooting HPs and FMJs, and the HPs eventually wore a VERY tiny "smiley face" dent in the feed ramp.  It got so bad that it would choke when releasing the slide on a new mag of FMJs.

I sent it to Kimber twice and they never could fix it.  I told the guy at the custom shop about the "dent" and he said "It doesn't really matter, I could drill a hole in the feed ramp and it wouldn't affect function".  I lost my confidence in their abilities after that one and got rid of it.

Other possibilities are if the COAL is different than what you're usually shooting, and of course, 1911's won't feed reliably unless the round is seated all the way back in the mag.

But the last thing that should ever touch a feed ramp of any semi autoloader is a dremel tool!

Bro, you sound like a gunsmith trying to discourage someone from performing an elementary task!

The one in the middle is perfect for a 1911 feed ramp, just use common sense!

The issue isn't the Dremel (although I'd think a gunsmith would send the company a thank you for all the botched jobs they are responsible for) or the attempt at polishing...it's the fact that it's aluminum.
Aluminum is soft and the finish on the feed ramp is the only part that's hardened.
If you attempt to polish that portion, you quickly wear thru the anodizing and now you are running on the bare aluminum and it just won't live.
I will not own an alloy framed autoloader for this reason.
I have polymer frames and steel frames, but no alloy.
You can polish a steel-framed 1911 feed ramp to your hearts' content.
