Question About The 2010 Proposed Rules

Followed the links posted on the Alkali topic and spent plenty of time looking and reading. I see there are lots of 2nd deer tags now. I am puzzled does this mean if drawn for a 2nd deer tag a person could have a buck and a doe ?

I drew a 2nd deer tag this year,  a doe tag. So my 1st tag was for any legal deer and the 2nd was a doe tag for that specific GMU which I drew.

Thanks, that is how I was thinking it was. Looks like ther will be lots of those tags this year.

Last year if you drew one of those permits, yes, you would have lost your points.

This year, you still lose your points, but only in the 2nd deer tag category. You will still have your points in the Quality, Buck, Youth, Senior, Disabled, Master Hunter, Antlerless, and any other categories I may have missed.

If you draw a second deer tag, do you have to shoot a deer with your first tag first, or can you shoot the doe first, then use your "main" tag?

I don't believe there's any requirement as to what order you use the two tags. I know with the Master Hunter 2nd Elk tag permits, they don't even have to buy a second tag. They can use their regular elk tag for their permit hunt, and then if they end up not killing an elk on that hunt, they can just hunt the general season with that same tag, and never have to purchase the second tag.

I don't think the 2nd deer tag permits are that way though. I read in the regs where it says the permit is only valid if you purchase a second deer tag.
