I assume you're talking about Long Island in Willapa bay.  Go to the Willapa Bay National Wildlife Refuge website and it'll give you the basic information.  I've never actually hunted it, but from what I've been told it's very thick and can be very wet, but the animals are there.  Every time I drive past, I wish I had a boat with me to go out and check it out.

Sounds like he's talking about the peninsula, GMU 684. I tried hunting bears there years ago, back when we still had a spring season. Only spent a couple days down there. All I can tell you is it's almost 100% private property.

We hunted Long Island for years, we call it the sponge because you get saturated.  It has gotten thicker over the years, no logging for a long time and the thinning they did was on the only road on the Island and caused a big mess.  Watch the tides you don't want to get stuck in that thick mud in the sloughs it is best to go with 2 boats.  We did have some great times out there.

I know a guy that hunted there the last two years.  I know they got an elk last year.  I also remember him saying you really have to watch the tides but it sounded like a lot of fun.  If I run in to him I will ask more questions and let you know.  They do spend a ton of time scouting it out each year so you may try that and then go from there.

LOTS of bear on the island, so  thick you gotta crawl in places, but a unique experience.
It also doesn't matter if it is raining or not, if you hunt on the island, you will get wet.

Long Island is a federal refuge, I don't think anyone owns anything there.  With the Island You either love it or hate it. Watch the tides and tie your boat up with a long rope  and throw out an anchor . the tides will catch you if you don't watch the tide book.
Bears?? Some places you won't be able to find a clean place to step. They call them timber ghost for a reason :chuckle:
You'll want a jet sled or flat bottom boat to get to the beach. Saw log slue is a good starting point.
Personally.....I loved it when I hunted it. Smokey went his way and I went mine. But that was 20 yrs. ago... It's an adventure for sure.
