Redfield 3X9X40 w/four plex (update 3/28/2010)

Picked up a new Redfield 3X9X40 with the four plex reticle for the new T/C Icon .243 that I just bought my son. I have to say that I am impressed. It is nice and sturdy. The diopter ring is smooth, but not so smooth it would move easily on you. It is an all around good looking and quality scope for the price. I bought it at cabela's last night, but with the light in the store I wasn't sure about the clarity. This morning in the natural light the scope really showed that it comes out the Leuopold factory. The four plex reticle is just right and the clarity is very good. I originally wanted the accu-range reticle, but after looking at it in the store I just wasn't sure about it and thought it would be to much for my son to think about. For a first scope and rifle I think the four plex will do just fine for him. Cabelas mounted and boresighted it for free with the purchase of the scope and rings. Now all we have to do is go shoot it. I will give you further updates then.

I've been reading about these. Anything associated with Leupold has to be good. Will be watching this thread for updates..

Sorry guys. I haven't been out yet. We were going to go on Friday after my son got out of school, but my dad was down the Sportsman's Club setting up for an archery shoot and he said that there was already 20 vehicles down at the range. Saturday I wasn't even going near the place because of archery shoot and they had a pistol competition going on. Hopefully this week we will get out.

Well we finally made it out on Friday. I picked my son up and we headed for Tacoma Sportsmans. The T/C ICON .243 sure is a sweet shooter. Here is the skinny on the scope.
Clarity - I felt it was right there with my 3X9X40 Nikon Monarch that I have on my .223. Pretty good for a scope that was a whole lot cheaper.
Eye relief - It was great. Both my son and I easily used it.
Windage and Elevation - They were easy to adjust by hand. The only thing I didn't like was the clicks. They were a little soft, but you could still tell how many clicks you moved. The Nikon the clicks are more definate.
Overall - For the money this scope is a definite keeper. The clarity is great, the four plex is not too heavy, the eye relief is good, and the windage and elevation move the bullet where it needs to go. Any deer or yote in its sites and it will be beddy-by-time!

I just put one on my .300 mag. I haven't been able to get to the range to shoot it yet though. I like the clarity on mine also. Thanks for the update.
