squiding

any tips or thoughts on the best time(of the year) to go squiding. i wana take the lady out. would tonight be a waste of time

Nov, Dec, Jan.....  I think you are a bit late.  You never know.  Best thing is to go to the piers and see if the Asians are fishing for them.  If they are, there might be some around.  Good luck.  Be sure to post if you get any and where.

will do. i always used to see the asians fishing for emm. will i was catchin bullheads and the ocasional flounder. i am think redondo tonight... i'll just look for the guy with the geni and floodlights

When i fished Les Davis Pier, they would fish for them all summer long 

I would spend all night fishing for Hake and catch the occational salmon

we caught a handfull. the asian were nailin emm though. i must be doing something wrong. and they were alot smaller then i remember though like 6 inches. maybe just the juveniles are hanging out in the shallows.

A lot of it depends on the jig.  They use one's with really wide pin-like "hooks", most you can buy have a smaller diameter of pins and are heavier.  I once saw a guy with a jig that blinked red when it hit the water, he caught about eight to one compared to everyone around him, then sold the jig when he limited (not to me  ). 

I made some red blinkers but the batteries didn't work so well in the cold water.  I finally found some jigs that light up red but don't blink at GI Joes a few years back but have not gone squidding since then.

Yep, Nov, Dec and Jan are the best months, we have what they call "Market" squid all run around 6" - 8". They are in the sound all year long and come into shallow water in the winter, best months. The action will hot in the winter, I've goten my 5 quarts in 30 minutes. For the jigs get some that glow in the dark and hit them with a camera flash and they will last a long time.

we went to redondue. we shoudl get a huge group together. take out a couple geni's and take the pier over. i'v got flood lights.

I haven't gone in a couple of years, but did enjoy it. Love frying up some squid

Would go off the Edmonds or west Seattle piers.
