Congrats and nice pics.  I've been wanting to fish that river for years.  Just can't seem to find the time for the long haul from the wet side.  Did you see many people floating it or is it equally well fished from the bank?  I fly fish, and gear fish.  I think I'd start the day with the gear and finish with the spey rods!

Wanttohuntmore-Where we were at, there were 18-20 people in a 1/4 mile stretch fishing from the bank. As far as drift boats all day I would say we saw about 15 or so come floating by and all but maybe 1-2 stopped on the other side of the river from us for a while. Never did see any of them catch anything. Besides our 8 we took home we saw another 18 or so taken and only 1 native was caught and released. We left spokane at 4am and got home at 9:30pm it's a 3 hour drive 1 way so it was a long day but a great day.

ribka- Believe me I was smiling all day after I caught the first one but this pic. was taken an hour after she was caught and had just put sunflower seeds in my mouth (love those seeds).  :chuckle: :chuckle:

That's what I was thinking when I first saw the pic. Fishing the hatchery spot is good but crowded. Constant action though. Beautiful river to fish. I miss the days at WSU hitting that place every weekend

He was snagged on the bottom. He was down there with 2 others all from colville, and between the 3 of em they caught just one.

Good job on your first steelie. What did you hook it on? Looks like some nice country. If you ever make it over here to the wetside you should try to hook one fresh from the ocean, they are fun.
