Yes, we look forward to hearing what velocity you get and if it will hold a pattern. Good luck and fun project

Speaking of overbore...there is an article in the Feb, '10 issue of Precision  Shooting about a .233 -300 WSM.  Has a photo of the chrono at 5019 ft/sec.  He shortened a 45 gr TSX to 40 grains and a lot of RL-19.  That produced approximately 450,000 rpms out of the muzzle.  He had 100 yard groups that a dime would cover with 70 gr. TSX at 4000 ft/s +.   PACNOR 28" 4 groove stainless barrel.
It never changes, but it is always different.

I would think its a bit too much for such a light little bullet. I didn't see the rate of twist....nor any groups. Maybe you should of thought if you "should" before you "did"?

Not my time, and not my money, so knock yerself out. Would like to see some honest pics of the groups though....and I promise not to say I told you so..... ;)

larry, measuring case pressure based on primer flatness is grand way to go blind. w/o a strain guage I would strongly suggest you weigh and measure your prepped brass and measure case head expansion. I assume you have a good understanding of powder stability, what you can get away with using 8700 will get you killed with a similar burn rate powder like rl 25......use caution in any changes you make, be it case weight, primer.....blah blah blah.

looks fun.

The first 4 out of it were a tiny bit under an inch, number 5 was high about 1 1/2 inches.  60gr of H-1000 put it out at 4,091fps.  I had some loaded with 61gr but they would not rigister over the crony.  The cases look good to me, the rifle will rechamber fired brass, so I don't think things are streaching in the action.  I think this may be my limit with the Steyr, I have a more modern S&W IBolt I may put a longer barrel on and keep working up.  Larry
