Is it possible to hire a guide in Washington?
«

My brother and I could really use a few days with a competent guide this fall - we're both new to mulies and we learned a lot last season, but still have SO much yet to learn. Is it possible to hire a guide in Washington state? It looks to me like most of the guide services out there are focused on the big tourist destination areas. Especially if we're going to hire a guide, the $$$ to get to those locations just isn't available these days.

we've got a few guides on here that are site sponsors, and there's a lot more to choose from too.
what area of the state are you interested in hunting and what type of country??

We're very flexible
Right now we are most interested in hunting wherever we can maximize our chances of success. Last year we focused our season (centerfire rifle, both of us) over south of Coulee City up above Sun Lakes. The deer are there, but we never saw them during shooting hours. Public-land deer and they appear to be pretty well educated about not getting shot. It wasn't crowded but we did see a few other hunters in the field.
We both live on the westside (Redmond for me, Port Gamble for him) but went east to reduce the number of other hunters around us. Neither of us especially likes feeling crowded. I wouldn't object to the shorter travel to hunt westside blacktails this year but I don't want to find myself in a sea of orange vests.

Here goes...
you can talk to bearpaw on here, he owns and operates bearpaw outfitters, although I think he is mainly whitetail hunting in WA.
http://bearpawoutfitters.com/
there's rugged class outfitters for which you could talk to norsepeak on here.
http://www.ruggedclassoutfitters.com/
there's icicle outfitters, early winters outfitters in the methow, there's okanogan valley outfitters(maybe wrong on their name), there's about a couple hundred probably to talk to...

I did an unguided hunt with Bearpaw a few years back. It was for whitetails but i'm sure he could point you in the right direction for mulies. They are a class act. Mark
