Coyotes , Racoons , Where Do I Start?
« on: March 19, 2010, 10:29:08 PM »
I am a fairly new hunter and not having much luck with the whole deer thing and i was wondering how the experienced people on here go about finding the predators and varmits like coons when out there. I try to get in the woods as often as possible but life often gets in the way. Just wondering if i need some sort of call or what. A coon would be just fine. Coyote , Cougar , Possum , Bobcat , i don't really care. I hunt with a bow only.

Any info to get started would be awsome and appreciated. I have camo , 2 tree stands , and some cass creek handheld predator caller but i am either using it wrong or it is junk. it is pocket sized with 5 different noises. I live out on by the pierce / kitsap line.
The only person who has failed is the one who never tried.

Check the regs on what is still open- I know coyotes are year round. I am pretty sure bobcats are done for the year. Coons have a season too. I'll let the pros tell you how to call them cause I try like crazy with tons of different calls and only get a couple dogs a year. :P Good luck
This closet is taken- go find your own

Shoot-em-Dead is right the only thing open right now is coyotes. The other small game animal seasons dont open back up until september.

I would pick up a howler, and try some pup in distress (Ki Yi's) with it, it should work good in the spring.
