Anybody interested in owning hounds
« on: December 14, 2009, 01:04:40 PM »
Hey i am looking to see if there would be any guys on the site that are looking into or would be interested in buying some hound pups this coming year. if there are enough guys that look interested i will have some around late spring or fall. i am not interested in all the pure breed lines, these dogs will be breed to my liking and purely for hunting. i would eventually like to breed alota hounds and make my own breed of dogs that are taller and have a thinner more lean muscle type build. i have a few picked out that are the start of what im looking for, and i like to start this as soon as i can so this will be a reality down the road in the years to come. i am young and still have more to learn, but i dont think you will be disappointed

price will depend on a few things but they will be cheap to start, im not trying to make much if any money off it. id like to find out a few things for you that would be interested: what age would you want to buy the dog at? and would you want them to be trained already, partly trained, or train them your self?

anyways let me know any that would be interested, it be great to see some more new guys pick up this sport. this would be a great way to get started

thanks

i have a few males in mind to breed the pup with now, they should put out a litter of good hounds with a handful that will turn out to be really good dogs. its still gonna be a few months away and i only have 2 guys that said they were commited. i will most likely breed her either way but id like to find a few more guys who are fairly sure they'll want some. so something to think about for anyone who is interested in getting some hounds. they'll be cheap im not in it to try and make any money, anyways plenty of time to think it over for those who are interested

Capstick used an old Marine leather neck from the sword days that he modified with an addition of some sheet metal extra leather and some rivets for his personal neck when looking for wounded leopards. Maybe you have some there Bone. If I were a hound hunter I'd be trying that and spikes sticking out of the collar like you see on some dogs. Better to try some thing than to say you wished you did.

It's a great time to get hounds. If I can swing it, we'll have hounds and baiting back within the next couple years.

well they'll be part walkers for sure. im not much into pure breeds, nothing against them but i dont really care if the dog has pure blood or not. i got a good female with very good instincts and comes from a line that for some reason does very good on cats :dunno:. im more into finding a good male that has the right characteristics, rather than finding another one of the same breed
