Sponsor Review: Phelps Game Calls
« on: September 21, 2010, 09:46:21 PM »
Here is a quick review of my experience with Phelps Game Calls.

A few months ago I contacted him about whipping up a few 'yote calls for use during the Oct. modern firearm season. The plan is to shoot a nice buck then spend a few days calling in dogs. I really like the look of his wooden calls and thought it would be cool to have a few made up. I sent a PM and was quickly responded to with some good basic info and a promise to help out when the time came. I put some money aside, we chatted a bit, and the order was sent. Please keep in mind that I was asking for three different tones with some additional special requests.

Just today, exactly as promised, my calls arrived. When I first opened the box I was surprised that they came in packaging. I guess I was expecting to just get a few calls wrapped in bubble wrap or something generic. The packaging was very cool and got me excited before even seeing the calls. As I took them out the first thing I noticed was the burl wood had a great finish and was very smooth. I could tell the wood was worked with care. The finish was great and it looks like they will hold up to years of hunting. The "extras" we talked about were exactly as I requested. Very nice.

Overall I would highly recommend Phelps Game Calls for your coyote calling needs. The calls he made were done in the time promised, exceeded my expectations for quality, and showed great care and workmanship. He delivered as promised in every way.

Next time I need a call made I will once again keep my business local and hope you do the same.

Please check out my thread in the deer section regarding my 2010 Guided Mule Deer Hunt. After we whack a buck we will be taking it to the 'yotes. I'll post pics of dead dogs along with the calls then.

Happy hunting and be safe.
