This goat was taken by my uncle. As far as I know the hike in wasn't bad especially since the horse did all the walking for him. He said the hardest part wasn't finding goats, but getting to them and getting it out was. I think his main goal was to get a billy and not a nanny and he got it. Nice job on the mount Ric.

Well,  I only know a few things about goat hunting and they are pretty simple. If it's blue sky your goat hunting, because you can actually spot them. If its cloudy then your chances of spotting them are greatly reduced and your mostly on a hike.

The other thing I know is if and when you get drawn for a goat tag or any other "special" special permit you hunt it as hard and as much as you possibly can. And find a yellow tinged billy as they tend to be older and heavier horned. And bring some rope, you just might need it.

My buddy and I were drawn as partners in 97 and some of these lessons were learned the hard way.

I had to hunt alone on the second weekend because he went to a wedding. And wouldn't you know it I found that big billy I had been looking for, albeit on very steep slope  As I was skinning out my billy after roping it off and myself off in order to stay put believe me I was cussing him, because help would have been nice.  It was the last day before it got cloudy and visibility was greatly reduced for the rest of the season which was either 3 or 4 weeks if I remember correctly.The billies horns measured out at 9 7/8  which is a pretty big billy and yes he was tinged yellow and made a nice rug.
My partner never filled his tag even though we scouted for one the rest of the season and he hunted it hard. So these lessons learned were hard for him and he still puts in every year trying to get a shot at another goat.  Hell so do I, it was the best and funniest hunting I have ever done.

If I was the groom.. Wedding delayed.  (Won't happen again, but just sayin.)

If it was my son/daughter.. Wedding delayed or they do it without me.
