Star 9mm largo
« on: March 27, 2010, 12:28:21 PM »
Anybody know anything about these pistols? I'm fairly sure they are not the greatest quality in the world...just wondering more than anything. A guy I know has 1 and was asking me about it. I told him I'd see what I could find out for him.

I believe they stopped production of these sometime in the early 1980's.  Please note:  The 9mm Largo is not the 9mm Parabellum, the standard 9mm auto cartridge.

I knew that they were different calibers...but thats about it. I am at work today with a firewall on our computer system that blocks firearms sites, so I'm limited to my internet surfing.
Thanks

My condolences.  Isn't it great to have people who know what's best for us making the rules?

9MM Largo has the same relationship to 9MM Parabellum/Luger as .357 has to 38. Special. Longer case to hold more powder. Apparently finding this sized ammo is difficult. From what I understand Star company was a peace time merger between two companies working on either side of the Spanish civil war. These pistols had to have special modified actions. There were several different models. Here is a Wiki:

I don't raise much of a stink as 1)they sign the checks that pay my mortgage and 2)most people in my position don't have any recreatonal use of the internet.

I can't access a lot of other stuff either...not just gun stuff.
