Who's Heading Out for the Youth Season this Weekend?
« on: April 01, 2010, 06:40:54 PM »
At long last the time has finally arrived!   :IBCOOL:

Turkey Slayer, "Rick" and I will be taking "Rick's" 11 year old son out on Saturday for the youth hunt in NE WA.  We went out and sighted in the Benelli 20 GA Pump this week which is equipped with a Primos Tight Wad Turkey Choke. We found that we were getting very good patterns at 35 yards using #6 Hevi-Shot in 1.25 oz of shot.

Slayer has a few spots in mind and we will see if we can roost a gobbler tomorrow night.  Story and hopefully pictures to follow.  :)

Who else is headed out this weekend?

Good luck to all and remember safety first followed by ethical hunting!   :hello:

Keep em Gobbling

Truck is just about loaded  ;). Kid is in bed (hopefully sleeping) got a half day of work tomorrow and if the pass is open we will be gone. With any luck roost a few tomorrow and let the FUN begin. The weather could make this a bit tough but you will never know if you don't go. If we can make Spokane in 6 hours we will be in good shape to try a roost a few. I got a report earlier this evening that it is snowing in Spokane which could make for a long drive. Good luck, and a safe fun hunt to all that are headed out. I really hope to see this thread loaded with pictures next week.

Tom Tamer, you should have opted for the one time waiver and put her on birds this weekend. It is not to late for the general season...perhaps yours is like mine and if I do not get him a bird this weekend there will be a real long discussion as to why he can not miss a few days of school and go with me during the general season  :dunno:. He seems to think if I am going he ought to be  :chuckle:.

Good luck to all the young turkey hunters.  May the turkey gods smile on you all this weekend.  A special thanks to all the Dad's for making this happen for those lucky new hunters.  Be safe and have a great time.

I'm ready!!! Won't be the first time we've hunted birds in the snow.  Camera is ready, camcorder is charged, and I'm dying to hear that first gobble!!   :whoo:   Good luck to everyone this weekend!!!

Planned on taking an 8 and 11 year old out tomorrow morning for their second try at their first birds.  With this crazy weather, I think it's going to be a "learning to track" style hunt.

Well I was angry at my inlaws for planning a trip for them and my son to hunt birds in Louisiana and making him miss the youth hunt, but now seeing the snow, rain and wind blowing over here like this I'm kind of glad he won't be back until Monday!

Now I just hope he shoots one down south!
hey, where's Professor Chaos? Anyone seen him?
