First Elk Season
« on: April 02, 2010, 02:44:23 PM »
Decided that my son was now a man and it was time to teach him how to hunt like one.  So I taught him how to call on a bugle.

Then on the way up we worked on some calling scenarios.

Then it was time to put some boots in the dirt and find some elk.  We didn't find any elk but we did find a couple of sticks and a stump  :)

Told you we found a stick!!!

I would say this is definately a Pope and Young stick so a closer pic was required.

And to top it all off we found a stump that he was able to climb on.  Does it get any better?  The only question is how to get down?

Great pics.  Get him some camo and a bow in his hand!  There was a father/son at the Skookum 3-D shoot, last weekend.  Both had stick bows.  The son was 3 years old!  And yes, he was slingin' arrows.  It was the coolest thing I've seen in a long time.

The "BEAR" doesn't need a bow to kill an elk he uses his bare hands.  I've seen him roar and knock birds out of the air.  All you have to do is ask him what sound a bear makes.
It is foolish and wrong to mourn these men.  Rather, we should thank god that such men lived.  -General George S. Patton
