I need a new camera any advise for a rookie please help.
« on: April 08, 2010, 11:05:51 AM »
Can anyone give me some advise on a new camera. its time to update my camera and i have no idea were to start. I usually use my camera for family stuff I.E. camping, fishing or for kill shots while hunting. It needs to be packable but i love looking at these awesome pics on this site and would like the option to take better wildlife and landscape shots when the opportunity arises. I could spend up to about 600 bones any advise? this is the kind of things i use it for the most.

I just got the Canon Rebel XSi 12.1 mega pix with a 17-55 IS lens new in the boxs, US papers off of ebay about a month ago for $560.00 with 1 year warrenty. Its been a fun camera. I snag the 70-300 lens that we have at work for the weekends. Its not an IS lens so you can get it for around $200. Good luck!!! I attached a few pics I took with it over our spring break!
If you shoot the first one you will never get that true trophy.

Yep the xsi is a good camera.  I have a 350d, which is an older 8.2 mp camera.  The thing has shot thousands of pics, and it won't quit.  Look for an xsi in your price range, and you can't go wrong.  The kit lense isn't much, but it will get you by until you can afford a 70-200f4L or better.  A good sharp L lens is what gets you great pics.  I also have a 28-70 Tamron f2.8 for portraits, and it is extremely crisp....

Get the xsi on Ebay first, then save up for some good glass in the future.  You can't go wrong that way.
