Canon L series built in shade
« on: April 14, 2010, 04:52:06 PM »
Hey guys and gals, I have a major problem with the built in sunshade on my Canon 400 L series lens!
I was out taking photos today with that lens and all my other lenses. I went to slide my sunshade back so that I could stow it in it's hard case. The shade slid easily almost all the way home. It suddenly stopped, it will not slide forward or back. It is STUCK Fast!

Help! What could be wrong and how can I fix it? I'm afraid to force it either way for fear of damaging my beautiful and expensive lens!

Any help would be much appreciated!

hi, Gramps!

Sorry to hear of your trouble.  I would ask this same question over on POTN.  There are many, many very knowledgeable folks over there that are eager to help, and chances are that there is a thread there specifically for the 400mm f5.6 lens.

Whenever I've had an equipment-related issue, I ask on POTN and get very accurate, helpful info almost immediately.

Good luck!

Thanks Tom! I already posted there, so I guess I'll go check for an answer now.
