Your Photography Gripe??
« on: April 20, 2010, 10:02:00 AM »
We've all heard the hunting trip gripe's, but over the years as I've gotten more into photography, I'm running into more let down's as far as getting that good shot. This past weekend I was in a 500 acre nature park, that had trails where folks are supposed to stay on the trails, the rest is habitat and usually has good photo ops for critters. I was watching these two small flycatcher's sneak in and out of a woven nest in the fir branches, finally figured out what side they wer going in and waited for at least 20 minutes for them to come back to get the shot. Some *censored* comes crashing through the brush, off -trail dragging his small kid with him right towards the nest which was off trail, they basically went through the woods from one trail to the next. I was clearly trying to take a photo and there was 500 acres of uncrowded area they could have plowed through. The guy walks right by me, "oh, excuse me", like he just realized I was there or something :bash:. The birds never came back and I never got the shot.

Anyone else deal with inconsiderates on the photography trail??

Well first of all, you have discovered the challenge, which is one of the drives for photogrpahy.  I've ALWAYS thought its much harder to take a good photograph of something then it is to kill it.  You have to get close, stop time, get all the settings right, have the light, know the background, on and on.

I've certianly been interupted more than once.  Not quite as flippant as your encounter.  Usually its not their fault and they are just out doing what I am doing.   But when they are breaking the rules and they do it, or they go against the grain, its much the same effect as say hunting behind a closed gate and a wheeler comes bobbing up.

Thanks Bone, I'll keep at it, hopefully they will be on the nest another week or two.
