Went out today
« on: April 20, 2010, 10:21:02 PM »
Hi all, finally got out on the river for some Walleye.  Did catch a few, but the first fish of the day and my first one ever was a fresh water ling cod (Burbot).  I had no idea this fish even existed.  I brought it up and my first thought was that I just caught some sort of sucker fish that I have never seen before.  My fishing buddy told me what it was and told me how good they were to eat.

I fillet him out and will be having fresh Burbot and Walleye for dinner tomorrow night.  Talk with you all soon.  John

Where were you at? We catch the burbot all the time up at Sullivan Lake! How big was it? Biggest we've caught was 27".

Hey Goose, we were fishing Lake Roosevelt out of Kettle.  It was 19 inches.  Now I want to catch more.  Talk about good eating.  How do you fish for them on Sullivan?  I might have to make a trip over there and try it out.  John

We catch them using glow in the dark buzz bombs tipped with nightcrawler jigged right off the bottom. We have a cabin up on sullivan probably only gonna make it up there once or twice this year. When I do i'll pm ya and see if you wanna meet up to catch some burbot and kokanee.
