Dagestan Tur hunt?
« on: April 21, 2010, 08:10:41 AM »
I'm looking for someone that wants to hunt Dagestan Tur this Aug-September. The hunt is booked through Profi Hunt(profihunt.com) and is for one Tur in the Osetiya region of Russia. A Chamois can be added for a trophy fee. My hunting partner had to cancel because of health reasons. He has a deposit in with Profi and doesnt want it to go to wast but he wants to try and recap at least some of his deposit. The dates of the hunt are Aug 25th - Sept 5th. This is a very affordable hunt!
PM me if you would like some more info or email at starbaileyranch@aol.com
Thanks,
Bryan

Need anything special besides a passport and money?   Not real familiar with the animal, but thats fairly mountainous I assume.

scalped off of the WWW.

" In today's instant gratification society, more and more pressure revolves around success and the measurement of one's prowess as a hunter by inches on a score chart or field photos produced on social media. Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield

I think bows are illegal in Russia so its rifle only.  I'd imagine you'd need to go through an import permit process, but maybe the outfitter deals with that.

Hunting 9K plus adds a whole new dimension to what air is.  :chuckle:   I told Jackelope I got my elk down in NM above 9k and I puked my guts out.  I was trying to cut them off and pushing as hard as I could climb.  NO AIR...no air. LOL

The outfitter (Profi Hunt) takes care of all the permitting and will meet you in Moscow to help get us through customs. (for a fee of course) But I think it is well worth the money spent as they'll get you to the hotel and back to the airport the next day for the last leg to the hunting area.
It is a good idea to have a US Fish&Wildlife import form filled out when you come back but you can fill one out at customs when reentering. Also, a person should have declaration forms filled out and stamped for your optics and rifle. The declaration forms prove you didn't purchase that merchandise overseas without paying taxes. They are free and can be done at any port of entry.
