Id Muzzy
« on: April 21, 2010, 08:15:49 PM »
I recently purchased a muzzy to hunt in the  north eastern corner during any deer and now that you cant shoot a doe in that season my motivation has gone down and the reason of wanting to muzzy hunt here was it would be less crowded and now that i might be relocating to Idaho, I was curious if there was any point in keeping the muzzy? I have looked at the hunting regs and the muzzy season is in with any weapons season. There is only a couple of days between seasons. So is there a point in buy a muzzy specific tag. Why would i want to be out there with a disadvantage?  If i was to choose to limit my self to use a muzzy during a any weapons season i would choose to use a more traditional muzzy. If there was any practical reason to keep it maybe i am missing something obvious other that hunting with a modern muzzy. I will be hunting the pan-handle. So anything you guys you could help me out with would be great.

If you're moving to Idaho, keep the muzzle stuffer.  There are a lot more opportunities for late season muzzy than there is in WA.  I took my kid over there Thanksgiving weekend for late muzzy season, youth mentor tag for elk and whitetail.  He killed a 2pt wt and got into elk, just not close enough.  Depends on the unit in Idaho but if your going over there, I'd say keep it.

if you are refering to the south eastern corner of washington for muzzleloader white-tail the game department has added back the antlerless in to the season. but the is some good idaho late hunts too like 8 and 8a

it is a advantage to get a muzzy tag because of the time of year you get to hunt. better seasons when the buck are more in the rut. as far as using one during any weapon you can ad a scope to your muzzy and probably be good to 200 yards and it also gives a bit of a challange if you are up for it as well. if you go to sell it you can put in the classifieds here and you might be able to sell it there.

lots of opportunity to hunt in ID with the muzzleloader.  Start reading the regs now, so you understand how they work.
