Flashin hummin birds

Got out early this morning and stood around the feeders waiting on the hummers to show up. I found that iffin I use the flash I can almost completely stop the wings (well sometimes  ;))

After he settled down for a sip but he don't look real happy about me and the flash goin off in his face  :chuckle:

Thats pretty good with such a slow shutter speed. If you pick it up to about 1/200 they should stop altogether.

Thanks Don I'm using a Kodak 812 and was using a F stop of 4.8 in aperature mode and the 1/50 was all it would give me

Try TV "shutter priority" 1/200 and see if it will give you a lower aperture more like 2.5 or 2.8. You will loose DOF but but the background is not what your focusing on anyways.

Don't remember seeing TV setting this is a pretty plain jane point and shoot Kodak but I'll check a little closer ( unless you're just taliking about goin into the shudder settings?)

Ya Kodak may call it "S" mode. You set the shutter speed the camera will pick the aperture and kick up the ISO as needed.

 Amazing how close you are able to get. I have the 712, nearly identical, great camera for the $$.
