Arrow spine
« on: April 26, 2010, 10:08:33 AM »
I got a new bow this year and am now pulling 65lbs. Currently im shooting 65lbs with 5575 26" arrows 100g heads and they are to light to be legal. If I jump upt to 125g broadheads the shot is 6" right. Before I go blaming the bow tuning would I be better off just getting stiffer arrows. According to the chart the I'm right on the line between the 5575 and 7595.

Thanks
Don

5575 is a 400 spine and that is what you need at 26 or 27" arrow. If you go to the 7595"s you will need to cut them at 28"...with 100 gran tip. you can go 125 and 7595's cut to 27 but you might need more lbs...like 68-70
It real hard to get GT Arrows to 6 grains per Lb. and spine out right with 100grain tips.
When the 125 hits 6" to the right is that with a BH or field tip?..if BH what head are you shooting?...and yes you will need to re-tune the bow.

The 125 broadheads are the ones shooting right 6". The 100's are only off about an inch compared to 100 field points both with 5575@26". All shoot close to the same irregardles of the brand I have. 3 blade muzzy, Buzcut 2 blade, Buzcut stingers and G5 montec. The groups are tight and the walk back is vertical, right on the tape out to 50 yards.

I may just be over thinking it. My next thought is to just run it up to 70+ lbs, buy 7595 in camo and 125g tip. Thats 443g legal and hopefully spined correctly.

Follow the above link to Easton Technical’s Shaft Selector. Plug in your numbers (arrow length from throat of nock to end of insert, cam type, draw weight and point weight) and the program will give you the shaft you need.

If you are not using Easton, read the spine deflection numbers to apply to your current shafts.

Excellent information and if you still have questions, the tech department will answer your e-mail in about one day.
I think you are probably under spined now.
