Craig -   On private propertyshe is definitely eligible for prosecution for the theft, but with public property I don't know how the law applies.  I am not an attorney, just curious

On posted private property you can add criminal trespass 2. On state you still have theft and maybe but wouldnt stick criminal trespass 2 unless they show intent. A second theft would help show intent.

So here's a question. If someone breaks into your car on state land does that mean they can't get prosecuted  :dunno: Only sounds reasonable that if someone stole something of yours then they should be prosecuted. It shouldn't matter where it is, state land or not. It's your property and they took it. If you can prove it then nail them to the wall.  :twocents:

Good luck. I hope you catch the wench.

Craig - Keep us posted on your progress and anything you find out from law enforcement.

Also, you may try to superglue/seal the box closed just to make it tougher on her. :chuckle:

The trap is set.

I Leave in the morning for Maui. So when I get home hopefully one camera is gone. The new one ( watching the bait cam ) has two 3" bolts, a bear box with a lock, A bike cable with a master lock around a big tree, and camo around it. Hopefully that one is still there. I will let you know if anything happens in a week.

Shouldn't you set up your trail camera in Maui, so that you can photograph the illusive beach species for us?

Anything you leave in the national forest, or private land for that matter,
COULD be considered littering.

And...?

Have you heard of anyone getting cited for littering on national forest land by leaving a trailcam for a week or month?

That would be a stretch.  Littering would be if you don't plan to pick up the item.....you know, throw it away.  A camera strapped to a tree that you come back to check often would not fall under the definition of littering...........

And...?   No I have not heard of anyone being sited for a trail cam. NOTICE I SAID COULD, I do know of established camps being sited for littering for their buried stash. And yes it would be a stretch, again the key word here is COULD. Big brother works in mysterious ways....... INO

I just had a thought while cathing up on this thread.

Do you think there is a chance she may have pulled it off the tree and threw it into the bushes?  Did you search the brush around the area?

Someone needs to put a remote tracking device in those cams.... This cam theft is rediculous.
