Grand Ronde Steelhead
« on: February 15, 2008, 06:15:32 PM »
Took this fish this morning on the Grand Ronde.  Had to improvise for wading boots....haven't picked up a pair yet so just used the ol' Sorels, work great, look funny.

Awesome fish, congrats!  I see the waders but were you fishing from the bank or were you floating?  What were you using?  I think I may head down there this weekend.  Thanks for posting the photo!

Brings me back to the days when I was at WSU and fishing the ronde on the weekends.  I started to notice the rams up on the hills around there and started going after them instead of fishing...

I was bank fishing, but needed the waders to cross some small creek and stand in the water to get the fish.  I used a corkie/yarn setup with a little scent.  Lots of deer down there, I am yet to see the sheep, some people have seen them that I know and say there is one huge ram.

Beautiful fish. Would love to land one like that, maybe someday I'll get tired of catching cell phone size blue gills and go try some serious fishing.

I would love to fish steelhead on that river, just to far for me though. Great job.
