Clear Lake (next to Rimrock Lake) Fishing and camping.
« on: May 18, 2010, 10:14:09 AM »
How is the fishing at Clear lake?

I have never fished it before, i normally just head over to Lost Lake and fish. I am thinking about taking my dad fishing and camping this weekend and it is supose to rain here on the wet side so i was thinking about heading over the pass.

Is the camp ground pretty good? (my dad is disabled and i need a place where he can easily get around)
Is there shore access to fish or can i bring my aluminum boat to fish?

Thanks for any help guys  :hello:

I have been to clear lake several times, campgrounds are nice but excess to the lake is difficult, shore fishing sucks you need a boat.  The trouts are really good mid May trough mid June.  I don;t know if this is the best for your father :dunno: Maybee all the way at the end of the lake by the landing strip, camping there should be fine for your dad, but there is no fishing, you have to go back to fish or take the boat.   :twocents:

Clear lake can be really good fishing until Memorial day and then its pretty much cleaned up . They should be planting the lake any day now. Good luck.

They are catching triploids on #6 trout colored Rapalas pulled behind the boat. I'm going up in the am (thursday) so I'll have a better idea first hand. The weather is real spotty right now. Suppose to be rain/snow mix and 37 degrees tomorrow. Check the weather report for White Pass this weekend before coming over.

Looks like i am going no where this weekend. My truck is in the shop and my be getting a new motor in it.
It started acting up tuesday on the way home from work so got a code reader from a buddy of mine and it came up with a fault code of a missfire in #8 cylinder and had this bad clanking noise  :bash: had it towed to dealer tuesday night and as of yesterday after noon they were not 100% sure of teh problem, they were starting to tear in to th motor and do compression check on the cylinders.

Luckily for me it still under warreny and it will only cost me my $100 deductable. Thank you, Chrysler for the 100,000 mile bumper to bumper warrenty  :IBCOOL: ( i have 97,500 miles on it)

Ait that the truth, i had that happen on my motorcycle. One week after th ewarrenty was out the fuel pump crapped out on me. I had to fight for it to get fixed from the dealer ship and i won  :IBCOOL: ($300 fuel pump  :yike:)

Sorry to hear about your truck gasman. We just got back from Clear lake. We hit it just right after a big rain/snow storm went thru. It cleared up for about 2 1/2 hrs and then the sky opened up and the temp dropped to 34 degrees and we got off the lake just in time before the next big shower. We (my friend and our 2 four year old boys) ended up with 4 10" ers and 1 jumbo about 16". We let the boys do all the reeling in and they lost 3 other jumbos and 3-4 other small ones. They were hitting on #4 & #5 trout colored floating Rapalas and I had on an old trout colored Hotshot about an inch long. It was the hot lure. The boys had a great time before it got real cold. I'm fishing the Yakima tomorrow and then we're going to try Clear Lake again next Tuesday before we head to AZ. Good luck if you can make it over.

I've never fished Lost lk. Both my boats are on trailers and I was told that you had to carry your small boats into the lake. Don't know for sure if this is true but I've always had such good luck at Leech, Dog and Clear lakes that I've never looked into it myself.

Lot of good shore acces at lost lake and filled with fry pan trout. Best to have a boat that can be carried to th ewater but i have seen guys launch there, but i would not suggest it.

I have fished the lake a few times in the last 2 weeks. There were 5 of us fishing out in 2 boats and we all limited out in a few hours. We caught almost all the fish on the west side of the lake using green flies and running the electric motor on number 2 speed. It was really good a week and a half ago but it is getting very slow. We all caught 12-18 in triploids. a few small 10 inchers. There have been a ton of boats on the water every time we were there. GOOD LUCK!!!
