Fine tuning your bow.
« on: May 27, 2010, 07:24:52 PM »
I had nothing to do after work today so i decided what better to do than fiddle with the bow. I have been reading alot about bare shaft tuning so i decided to give that a try because i have only found 1 broadhead that will group with my field points. The rest of the broadheads will shoot low right to way low right.

Heres what i did:
I shot a fletched arrow and a bare shaft arrow at the same dot at 20 yards. The fletched arrow hit dead on but the bare shaft hit low 6" and right 2". i moved the rest up 1/64" and repeated.  Bare shaft hit 3" low 2" right. I repeated until the bare shaft hit on the same level as the fletched arrow and shot a few more times to make sure.
Now my bare shaft is hitting 2" right (this can be indication of weak spine for a right handed shooter but im pretty sure my centershot is just a hair off) I didnt wanna dink around too much more with the bare shafts because they are so form sensitive that you need to be fresh. I screwed on 3 different types of broadheads that would never group with my field points just to see where they would hit and all of them hit 2" right! This should mean all i need to do is adjust the centershot a bit and any broadhead I put on the end of my arrow should hit where my field points do.

If you have ever had trouble getting broadheads to fly or shooting tight groups with your field points, give this a try it may make a world of difference.

For detailed instruction on how to do this go to the easton website and download their tuning guide.

Hope this helps!
