Need high quality trail cam
« on: June 09, 2010, 08:48:03 AM »
I'm looking for a trail camera that takes real good pictures. I have a couple primos but they are not good enough. I'm not using it for game. I need to get a night shot of the jerk thats filling my dumpster a few nights a month.

Any suggestions?

Don

Video would probably be the best.   I'm not a big brainiac when it comes to these cameras, but it seems to me that any flash would bring attention to the camera and thus its demise.  I would think you need something with nightshot/vision on it.

for the cost of a high quality trail cam you could get a 4 camera video system that covers more than just your dumpster   :twocents:

I have two of the exact same systems. The outdoor one sucks and the indoor one works good if I leave the lights on. I installed a car alarm on it this morning but would still like a decent picture. Sucks being in the ghetto sometimes.

Reconyx is the high end quick trigger IR camera, but they are like $500

You can build a homebrew camera to take high quality photo's with an external IR flash for around $80 - 120.

maybe just a sign that warns people that use of your dumpster makes them subject to video surveillance.  :dunno: could be a cheap deterent.
