Rufus Woods
« on: June 06, 2010, 05:12:10 PM »
I havent been seeing any rufus threads around here in a while  :o :dunno: and I was wondering if anyone has been fishing it and having any success. And if some people have been fishing it i'd really like to hear the story or two. thinking about going up there for a few days here this week towards the end and would like to hear that there are fish being caught.

Thanks
-Langer

I heard the opposite. Awesome fishing up towards the pens with some giants being pulled out. Heard someone caught a 31 pounder up there somewhere. A couple of my buddies went and they pulled 4 fish all in the teens. Worm on marshmellows.

it seems to be hit and miss, except with the local guides, they have it dialed in.

Not to question their catch, but that's an epic day if they pulled 4 in the teens out using bait, as the law states all fish caught on bait must be retained.

the place sucks, been fishing there three years now, that lake absolutely ruined me for trout, as it was the only place i was willing to go, 50 fish days per person were easy, last year 5 fish was good, this year, horrible. went there with six buddies, recently, we threw lures, fly's and bait, all of us experienced rufus vets, well in two days we landed one 12 inch dink between us. think this lake is finally out of my system. there are fish, they are large, but very few and far between. i'm done with this lake and looking foward to finding new places.

They were fishign on the rez side as they are indians. They caught several other fish that day. Caught a 14 and a 17 at the same instant.

It's definately not what it used to be.  For the most part fishing has been hit or miss for the last several months.  More miss than hit.  Merky waters lead to poor fishing for most of last week.  Looked like it had cleared up by Sunday, but today it's looking green again.

I went up a few weeks ago. It was disappointing. If you have not been up there since the change in ownership/operation there will be a shock. Be prepared to troll. The days of easiy limits are over.
