unit 245 scouting trip?

plotting a scouting trip to unit 245 (chiwawa?) , just wondering if someone could give pointers on where to start looking for elk. Also to those who hunt in that area, need an opinion- during the first part of october-do you think i'll be ok in a 2 wheel drive truck? I have chains, just not 4wd. I dont know how the weather gets there that part of the year.. thanks for the input.

ok.. well a little research suggests very few elk in 245, but good for mule deer...

theres some nice deer up there bu that would not be my first choice for elk in that neighborhood. 2wd should be fine in the summer time but come hunting season you wouldnt catch me in that area with 4wd and a good set of chains
