Still Cant Find One...
« on: June 13, 2010, 10:17:52 PM »
Ive went out scouting/shed hunting in southwest-ish (mt st. helens/adams) the last 4 weekends now, hiking up and down all over the place and still cant find a shed :dunno:. I really want to find an elk shed. Ive taken some tips i've picked up from reading articles and stuff (approximate elevations, south facing slopes...) but still nothing. I have found some elk but no sheds. either the elk i'm finding are far from where they shed, or the areas i've found have already been picked clean? Not sure. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

Its all luck, if you are willing to hike your ass off and go in some areas that other people arnt willing to go into then your chances increase. If you look up a steep hill and think "man that looks like a pain to hike". Then hike it. most likely other people have thought the same thing and have gone on to other areas. Just go slow and keep looking, it will happen.
