Salmon season's cut back this year?
« on: March 22, 2008, 07:34:12 PM »
I've read early report's that due to the fiasco with the Sacramento system's salmon being killed off by water mis-management that we are going to pay the price this year also. Anyone have any early info yet on how much the season's will be cut in the Sound this year? I picked a bad year not to go to BC.  :(

I heard that they tried real hard to close it all together but are going to allow limited fishing.  How limited, I dont know.  Yeah, it looks like I picked the wrong year not to go to Alaska. I might be crabbing only this summer and fall.  Damnit!   >:(

I just love how we go to hatchery only in 2007, with thousand's more in the escapement for Puget Sound and now we are going to be expected to help the *censored*s who fouled up the smolt production in the Klamath and Sacramento by sacrificing nearly our whole season altogether. Dman will be sending some notes to NOAA Fisheries and WDFW if/ when that happens. They f^** up, then they should pay the price, not us. Lesson's are not learned at other's expense.

Here is the latest I found on the current status. Washington "may" be exempt they state. I'll see if I can find the note on why the sacramento smolts died off.

Here is some of the information on the adult's killed by mismanagement by the BMR -as directed by Cheney, smolt's were also killed off due to "water dumping" in the Sacramento system, it's a wonder they have any salmon left at all.
