Double's
« on: June 27, 2010, 10:32:51 PM »
Who hunts with a double rifle?

At this stage in life I am unable to justify the expense, but in it's absence I have built a double shotgun that holds sub 1" composite groups at 60 yards and sub 4" groups at 100 yards.

It is going to be my main gun for hunting jack firs this year.

I started with a dinged up Remington 1889 12 g. I had the dings cut off the end and brought the barrels down to 24". I also added flip up express sites. The original plan was to sleeve the barrels, but after shooting it, I realized I won the lottery and left it as is.

I just picked up another double and hope to sleeve it in 45-90.

Anyhow, I was wondering if there were others on here who hunt with doubles and what your experiences with them are. Please share your story. I would love to read of your adventures.
