Weatherby Vanguard Bolt Action Rifle - 300 Win Mag price?
«

The little lady just came home and handed me a gun to check on a price for her.
A guy at her work wants to sell it to her for. $300.00.
Good deal or not?
Matte Black, Synth stock, it does have a 9x scope and safari sling.

Are you sure its not a 300 WBY mag? Costly ammo but $300 seems like a great price. I have one and it shoots great.

I would suspect that with that stock and stuff that it's likely not a 300 Weatherby. 300 win mag ammo is not that expensive. Just look at .300 weatherby ammo and compare prices to be sure.

Nothing wrong with a 300winmag...except that it isn't a 338winmag.
Like Jackelope said, it was likely $400 new (walmart).
The nice thing about the Howa 1500/Weatherby Vanguard is the availability of aftermarket stocks.
CDNN had aluminum pillar bedded hogues in camo patterns for $39, and you can buy nice aftermarket laminates for under $100 shipped.
Trigger is adjustable to a small degree.
I wouldn't expect the glass it comes with to be anything of value...so plan on spending another $300+ for decent glass! Should make a good combo for the money.

ROFL ...lmao ... .300wm ammo isn't cheap ... compared to 30-06 or .308 ammo which is a heck alot cheaper i rarely shoot my .300 wm... ammo off the store shelf is roughly about 55-60 bucks a box of 20.. another reason i don't shoot my 7mm mag.
but my .300wm is a tack driving rifle ....just my

Federal Premium 300wm ammo with a good TSX Barnes bullet at Cabela's is $44.99 a box. 30-06 with the same 165 grain TSX bullet is $43.99.
Corelokts through Cabelas are $24.99 a box for the 300wm and 17.99 for the 30-06.
I had about 140 rounds handloaded with 180 grain Accubonds for my 300wm at about 80 cents a piece out the door.
Thats cheap when compared to other big magnums. If you want to shoot a magnum you're going to pay a little more. You should know this going in. It's like the guys that buy big giant HD pickup trucks then complain about gas mileage. Factory Weatherby ammo is expensive if you want to see expensive ammo. I had a .257 Roy that the ammo cost $65 a box for the cheapest box of ammo I could buy. That stuff went all the way up to $85 a box.

My brother has the Tikka 3-300 Winchester Short Magnum so I had an idea of what the ammo would cost.
Ill tell her its a good deal, besides I told the little lady it might be a nice birthday present for me...HINT HINT...
Ill tell her to buy it, cause god knows that I cant afford it right now.
Thanks so much guys!

It's a good deal and the ammo is generally a fair bit cheaper than what your brother pays for his WSM as well.
