Chiwawa vs. Mission
« on: May 23, 2007, 08:39:08 PM »
Just looking for some advice.  I have looked at all the harvest reports and have spent some time in each unit, just not during the rut.  I now live in Wenatchee and am trying to make a decision which unit to put in for to fill my #4 spot.  Any info or suggestions would be great.  Like all of us I would love to see nice bucks and prefer to spot and stalk, but will hunt any which way to find a good buck.  Thnks for the feedback in advance.

If you want spot and stalk I would go with Chiwawa, Mission is much more heavily treed and spot and stalk opportunities are pretty limited.  I would go with Chiwawa.

Thnks Ridge!  That was my first thought although I was just curious about the mission side of things.  I know the E-burg side really good, but have never ventured north of mission and east of Blewitt.  Thanks again,

I am a mission fan myself.  I put in alot of time in the mission and gathered a ton of sheds.  I have seen some dandy bucks in the canyons.  Let me know if you hit the mission and i will give you some info.

My buddy had the Chiwawa tag last year and took a 170" class buck on the last day, last light...  Other than that they had not seen all the big boys that everybody says never came down, but I think that the population of big boys has just been hunted out... I would hit up the mission just because it's not as migration dependant as the Chiwawa is...

never hunted the misson, but spent my years in the chiwawa, and i agree that it is quite a migratory dependant unit for the big boys, which basically means weather dependant.  once that snow starts flying you want to be in the chiwawa, it's just up to whether or not you get that snow during nov. 1-18.
