bear scouting on border of GMU 436/437
« on: July 10, 2010, 04:59:59 PM »
Went out this morning, and did some really hard hiking.  Now I only saw bear activity at the highest points of the foothills, but the berries that were halfway up the road werent ripe yet.  I wonder if the bears will migrate down in a few weeks.  Saw a ton of activity, and scat but no live bears.  The heat had everything hunkered down, well expect for the toad that i caught.  :chuckle:  One of the spots that had a lot of sign last year, was a desert this year.  The timber company is prepping it, and any animal activty in that area is gone.

Where is GMU 436?  Very familiar with 437,  did you mean 426?

It is north of 437, the tip of lake shannon is cut off by the bum line between 436 and 437

Thanks for the comments, Yes its a 30 30, but a mossberg.  Walked about 8 or 9 miles today, and boy did it go from hot to cold, depending on how close I got to the snow line.  I was using a hoochie mama to mask my noise, and actually had an elk come running down my way, but winded me, and took off like its rear was on fire.  Didnt see it, but heard every bit of it.

There is no 436. North of 437 is 418.

I'm guessing the three mile rd. That looked really familiar. Seen a few in that area over the years.

Your probaly right, my GMU map of the area is a trace of the GMU Map at the North Cascasdes National park's at the ranger station. I took a fresh map unfolded it on the counter and drew it from there's.  Got a lot of weird looks but I dont want to accidently stumble on park land hunting.
