Coyote Hunt 7-22-10 thru 7-25-10 Need help

Never been coyote hunting before.  Taking my son and his friend and would like to be successful.  We'll be in the Brewster/Bridgeport area this weekend and would like to meet up with someone with some experience and go take out some coyotes.  Mainly it's a live fire exercise for my son.  He needs trigger time on a live animal before deer season.  If you can help, PM me please.  ASAP since we'll be leaving tomorrow.

early am and later eve when stuff cools off they are less active when it is hot out. good luck to you guys

Still kinda new to this myself but while I have seen them at 10-11am, I've had best luck calling them in at the early AM, like within a 1/2hr of 1st light. But I also think early evening is a great time to locate them since they seem to howl more. Good luck, hope you guys can find 4 or 5 of them!

Probably.  I would rather contain 2, 8 year old boys within a blind than have them exposed though.  They'd really get seen then.

Anything else to shoot in that area this time of year?  Marmots maybe?

I have been having some pretty good luck spot lighting around here. I'm sure it would be as good or better in that area. 20-30 Min stands, minimal movement and sharp eyes. I like to hunt a cross wind but have killed them in all types. Good luck and post pics if you kill anything.

use a howler, distress calls work too but for me ive done alot better in open country howling than i have with any type of distress call.

save your money get a guide and you will have a much better experience, get a feel for it, it's not as easy as the videos make it look.

Remember this is July though.  Your statement in regards to the mid morning action, is more true for winter months.

Since you are going to be there a few days I would spend the first evening scouting.  Drive around to your hunting areas and how at sunset and just after.  Just let out a few.  Try to get a gauge on where the responses are coming from.  This will be close to where they are lounging during the day.  It should be pretty easy to get a response since the pups are fresh out and eager to sound off.  Then hunt as close to these areas in the early morning and late evening hours as you can, but without getting so close that you risk being seen while setting up.

I'm sure you are right but I havent ever hunted in the winter yet. This was the weekend of 6/25 just last month and I saw these guys at 1030 - 11am out in the 75+ degree sunshine in the Quincy area. 1st dog I ever called in was at about 11am one of those days, and the1st one I've ever shot predatorpro & I found out in a field the next day at around 1030am in even warmer conditions. And same thing the very next day too, we saw one out in a field at about 11am or later and it was nearly 80 degrees. Its a bit cooler over here on the west side but I've still seen them between 9-10am but all my luck has come between 0530-0600 except I can hear them howling more in the early evenings, around 8-830pm & later.
