I think I am cursed for something.  Shot a black bear today, and coudlnt find him to save my life.  From 0800 until an hour ago, me and my friend were looking.  Found plenty of blood at the sight where I shot him, and a good trail for about a 1/4 mile, then nothing.  Its like he flew away.  This bear scared the crap out of me :yike: I had just left my truck, and was walking up the road, and the fog was super thick.  I was using this hoochie Mama call to mask my sounds, and out of nowhere this bear comes charging down on me.  I just started shooting, and he jumped back, and heaed up the hill.  I fired my last shot at him, and I think it hit his gut.  From there he stopped and stgarted thrashing around in the brush, and gave a few bellows.  I decided that with the thick fog, and not being able to see him, I should wait for him to bleed out.  SO I head back to my truck and use the onstart to call for help, and a hour later my friend arrives.  We head back up the road, and the bear is gone >:( I really wish I would had said screw you safety, and common sense, and went in after that bear :dunno: He appeared to be a big bear, but then again anything running at you appears big :chuckle:  I dont think he was human aggressive, but with the thick fog, and me using a hoochie mama, he thought he had a free meal.  Hopefully I can get back up there again and hunt.  If anybody finds a bear with three bullet holes in it let me know :bash:

Yeah already on that, have a couple of friends coming to pick me up and we are heading back out.  Im too tired to drive there and back, and having one more set of eyes will help.

I agree I would still be up there looking. Bears are pretty good at crawling in and under things to die.  Look everywhere even places you don't think they would be.

yeah also changing levels helps somtimes as well. good luck to you guys. hope you can find him if there is a wind get down wind of the area you think he might be. a lot of time you can smell them if you are down wind of them. and that is a true fact. not just pulling you leg. we have smelled them before we have seen them before.

Is this Bear in Skagit Co? If so I might be up for a cheap thrill looking for a wounded Bear besides I've got nothing better to do. Helped Wea300 track & find a wounded Bear a couple yrs ago I'm not sure why he was always 75' behind me. :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

Remember bears love to double back into a thick nasty area so they can watch their back trail and ambush whats following them.
