Anyone make it out for the MAster Hunter elk hunt?
« on: August 01, 2010, 10:05:48 PM »
I was going to but my hunting partner (son) bailed on me.    ....... :(

Just curious if anyone made it out.   Not looking for location, just want to hear an elk story.

Thanks,

Dan

I did, but it was much more of a scouting trip than a hunting trip. Did see a huge bull elk (see picture) and a rattle snake made some noise at me, but that was it.  The main beams on this elk were incredibly thick, the picture doesn't do him justice.

Holy cow Skinnyman, that is a great bull.

He was a loner?

Wuld have been too cool to see that brute.   He looked totally oblivious to your presence.

Wow Kirk,

7 out of 1 area.    Pretty good start for some folks.

Thanks for sharing.

I still haven't located any in bounds on land I have access to, but I'll keep trying.

Yeah he was a loner. It was on private property right off of a small road. So I had to take the picture of him from the fence and then blow it up (Hence the poor picture quality) I was about 75 yards away and he didn't know I was there. If he did, he could care less. It was the Cle-Elum ridge area (Teanaway GMU 335). So if anyone has a special permit for that area, there is at least one huge bull in there right now.

I didn't make it down to Alkali. I bought the 2nd tag for 3911 so I was staying in that area.

Thats a nice Bull! looks like he is almost completly out of velvet...I've seen several the past few weeks in 335, all still in fairly heavy velvet. Great picture! Here's one from Friday.

Those are both beautiful bulls.  Thanks for sharing.

I made it out tonight for the first time.   No elk sightings for me.   Not even much in the way of fresh tracks.

I did see a huge mulie buck, which was cool.   Biggest buck I've seen in a lot of years.  He stayed 20 yards off the road for a good long time and didn't seem to care even when I whistled.........   Never happen to me in October.......   :-)
