Has anyone fished the Puyallup?
« on: August 11, 2010, 02:38:16 PM »
I'm very new to river fishing, and when I say very new I mean the only time I've ever been is two weeks ago on the cowlitz with a guide. I just bought myself a salmon/steelhead fishing pole and hope to check out the puyallup run. I've heard talk and seen some pictures of the fish caught there. My issue is that I've never been fishing like this and don't really know where to start.

If someone could let me know what type of bait or lours to use I would be very grateful. Also it seems there are many stretches of the river and each has a good time and bad. Are there any general stretches that are better than others? I would love to come on a trip with someone if they would be willing to help show a newbie the ropes but if not some tips would be great as well.

Thanks for the help.

:)Right now the Pwallup is not too hot, try the Nisqually or better the Skokomish (lots of anglers) keep it simple. corkie and yarn, spoons, add a shrimp or eggs to the corkie. bump the bottom or float under a bobber. crimp on lead does not hang up as bad. go fish, fish alot, is the best way to learn.
