I always pack my .45 and sometimes my rifle just for the hell of it. Ya never know when a yote (or something else in season) may come by.

I always go armed, whether I'm looking for sheds or just wandering around the countryside. While I have to say that I have never seen a coyote while doing any sort of hiking/hunting (that includes coyote hunting, which goes to show how good I am), I'm still hoping for that lucky day. Plus, you never know when you might run into a meth lab or pot grow. Or a cougar.  :)

I always carry my 45, just in case.  You never know what you're going to come up against or how hungry they will be.  It only takes one attack to change things forever.

I usually have a shed in my hand for those wolves and badgers.

I use to pack a rifle around for shooting yotes. I got tired of lugging that sucker 10 miles and maybe seeing one dog, usually none. I have learned to pack light when shed hunting. Bottle of water, snacks, camera. I would carry a pistol but by 44 with a 9" barrel weighs about as much as my rifle.  :chuckle: I should get a more compact pistol to carry.
